Carter Lifestyle Maternity Session | Cape Elizabeth Photographer

maine family maternity photography

As soon as I met Maddie, I knew their maternity session was going to be awesome. The way she spoke about her family; so full of life and love, is something you don't see every day. I was literally counting down the days. The Carter's booked a maternity & newborn package and now I'm counting down the days to her due date! This family is so full of love and it just radiates from all their faces.

We decided to aim for some beautiful golden light and the beautiful location that Kettle Cove is. Cape Elizabeth is one of my favorite spots to shoot at, with it's rocky coast that just says MAINE. It's a bit of a drive for me, but it's always worth it. Kettle Cove is especially fun for kids because there is SO much to explore. I think Emilia's favorite part was the seagulls.

Remember how I said we specifically did the session at a time with gorgeous light? Yeh, about that. It ended up being incredibly cloudy and overcast that evening - AND, dare I say, a little chilly given that it's July. But you know what? We didn't even NEED the beautiful lighting. When a family is as loving and connected as the Carter's are, that's all you can see and focus on anyway.

Here are some of my favorite images from their lifestyle maternity session. Feel free to leave some love and/or share. And definitely keep your eyes out for their in-home newborn session in a few months!

In Home Maternity Session | Maine Photographer

Hey guys,

How was everyone's April vacation? My family and I decided to take a last minute trip to the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. It was so nice to just get away for even a couple days. You don't always need to go far to relax. Once (if I ever) finish editing the pictures, I'll do a blog post sharing about our mini adventures.

I've had a lot of maternity sessions lately and it's amazing how different they all are. Just like with any other session, no two are alike. Recently, I did an in home maternity session with a really awesome family. They were so much fun and were totally ready to laugh, joke around, and have a fun time. I just loved it! Baby Myles is going to be a lucky little guy. Both kids are ready to be a big brother & big sister, and I'm sure they're going to teach  him all their fun games.

Oh and just a reminder that Mommy & Me mini sessions are coming up in about a week and a half. Did you see the blog post I wrote about them? If you missed it, you can see it here. There are still a couple spots available. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Maine Maternity Photographer | Wyatt's Becoming a Brother!

Hey everyone!

How about this weather we're having right now?! Last weekend I met up with Kristen, Matt, and Wyatt to do a maternity session. Wyatt is so excited to meet his little brother Emmett in just a couple short months. He's one of the most gentle and sweet little boys I've ever met, and I just know he's going to totally rock this new big brother gig.

We all went to Camp Ellis in Saco to do their session and it was much sunnier than expected. Full sun is something that pretty much all photographers complain about. It creates harsh shadows and can be difficult to work with. But there are times it's just inevitable, and when that happens you just get a little create and embrace lots of sun flare! I just got a new lens and I am loving the sun flare it produces.

I feel so lucky to call Kristen a friend. She's an amazing person and mother. As soon as you meet Wyatt, that is evident. I brought my daughter along with me to do a little video for a school project and he had her laughing through the whole session. She was such a great little helper, I may have to bring along as my assistant more often.

If you've been considering booking  a spring session, the time is now. I'm just about full for this month and do expect to book out May and June. These months are super popular because it's one of the "sweet spots" in the year. The weather is warm but not too hot and the tourists haven't moved in yet. Maine Winter Maternity Session | Bunker Family

Last week, the blizzard formerly known as Stella dropped a blanket of snow over most of Maine. And by a blanket, I mean a solid 2 feet. Thankfully though, she seemed to move out as quickly as she moved in. The day after Stella, the Bunker family and I met up to do their maternity session.

We started the session at their home; in the nursery. Cyndie and Casey are waiting to find out the gender which is something I think is so cool. When I was pregnant with Abby, I really wanted to wait to find out but I didn't possess the willpower. Whoever this little one is going to be, they are so lucky to be coming into a home so full of love. And the nursery is absolutely gorgeous. Seriously, I wish my room looked as nice as this nursery.

Then we all ventured out to Cape Elizabeth to do some pictures with the classic Maine coast. As I was driving up I couldn't help notice how big the waves were. For some reason it didn't occur to me that huge waves = huge winds. That is, until I stepped out of the car. IT WAS SO WINDY. And cold. I shoot and just hang out in Cape Elizabeth a lot throughout the year and I've never, EVER, been there on a day as windy as this one was. The fishing boats were violently rocking off shore and the few cars that were in the parking lot had their occupants sitting in them. 33 and sunny feels a lot different than 33 and cloudy with harsh winds.

I felt really bad about how windy it was because it made it unbearably cold. But Cyndie and Casey were so good about it. We took some breaks to warm up in the car and made use of some snuggly poses.

I love how these images came out and I'm so excited to share these with you all now. I seriously am so excited to meet this little one in about a month and do their newborn session.
