Carle Family | Wells, Maine Family Photographer

maine-brothers-portland-freeport-photographer-.jpg

A couple of months ago the Carle family and I met up to do their family lifestyle session. We opted for a pretty spot in Wells, Maine. They all had great attitudes and these kids were seriously fantastic. I've never seen a pair of siblings so willing to get along and they totally went with whatever I asked them to do. Photographing this family was such a joy - though I did feel a pang of jealousy that my kids don't get along this well, hah.

Fall mini sessions will be announced soon, and I have a poll going on over on my facebook group about possible locations. If you'd like to give some input, come and join the group. I'd love to have you!

I have a couple fall sessions scheduled but as of now, the only other sessions I will be doing this fall will be the mini sessions. Depending on my school schedule I may open dates up somewhat randomly throughout the fall.

Are you subscribed to my newsletter? If you're interested in booking a mini session and you aren't on the list, you can and should sign up now. I always open booking up to previous clients & my newsletter subscribers first.

Also, one last note -- I am looking to take on 2-3 weddings next year. If you know anyone who is engaged and still looking for a photographer, send them my way.

I hope you all enjoy the last few weeks of summer vacation!

A Lifestyle Session at the Beach | Kennebunk Maine Family Photographer

When Caitlin scheduled her spring session last fall we picked a random placeholder date knowing that we would like have to change it depending on weather because we all know how spring in Maine can be. (ie, rainy, cold, windy, muddy) However, I think we were all shocked when the forecast looked beautiful and we ended up shooting in April and it was 80 degrees. I still can't get over how lucky we got.

So we met at a beach in Kennebunk that I hadn't been to and spent the morning playing in the sand and the water... Yes, in April. That's just the kind of person and photographer I am. If I can I will ALWAYS encourage kids to get wet and dirty, haha.

Anyway, here are a few of my favorites from their session.

Maine Newborn Documentary/Lifestyle Photographer | In Home with the Readers

Last fall I met the Reader's when they attended my fall mini sessions. I always feel lucky when people choose me to capture their families and lives so I was really thrilled when Nichole reached out to book a newborn session for Henry. This is definitely one of my favorite sessions. I love documentary photography and waiting for beautiful moments to happen. Nothing feels better than getting to capture a moment that happens spontaneously and I feel even luckier when my clients get that and love it as much as I do.

I'm so excited to share these pictures, I would apologize that it's so picture heavy but I'm not actually sorry! I love the story they tell and I can't do it justice without including an obscene amount. Haha!

One month down, eleven to go! | 365 project Maine photographer

Phew, I made it one month into my 365 project. I am seriously shocked I've made it so far. It's already been interesting and not exactly as I expected. I've found it to be difficult (not surprising) and there were days where I just barely managed to get a shot. I feel like most of the days yielded mediocre pictures at best, but that's ok. It's not about making an amazing image every single day. It's about making something that at the end of the year, I'll be able to look back on and hopefully remember some days that I had forgotten.

So, anyway, here are my first 31 images.

Portland Newborn In Home Session | Maine Photographer

A couple weeks ago, I met up with this sweet little family for a newborn session. Eli decided to come a little early but is thriving and everyone is settling in well. They opted to do their session in the comfort of their own home; which I just love. When we have pictures taken in our homes, it just adds another layer of authenticity and gives more depth to the stories our photographs tell.

I'm finishing up their gallery tonight and am excited to share some of my favorites with you all.

Roberts Family Tree Cutting Session | Southern Maine Lifestyle Photographer

Are you ready for the holidays yet?

If you're like me, the answer is "not quite". But I'm never ready and often out on Christmas Eve like a lunatic trying to finish up odds and ends... usually stocking stuffers.. because I can never plan ahead enough to get done like a normal person.

This morning I am sharing a throwback session from last winter. It was on my old website so I'm just reposting it here. ;) I have room for ONE in home session this month. January is already booked and February only has one spot left as well.

From December 7th, 2016... A couple weeks ago, the Roberts’ family and I met up at Boiling Springs Tree Farm in Southern Maine to do a couple family portraits & then document their holiday tradition of cutting down a Christmas tree.

These guys are seriously awesome. They are such an easy going family and I was so excited to tag along. We met at the tree farm in the morning so we beat the crowds. It was a particularly foggy morning which made for a really cool backdrop in the beginning of the session. The kids had such a great time picking out trees, helping cut them down, and then, of course, hot cocoa afterward.

I actually photographed the Roberts’ family last year when I was doing a project for a photography class I was taking in college. This was before I started my business and one of the very first steps that pulled me in this direction. It is so fun to go back and see how much the children have grown.

And with that, here is our session….

November Favorites | Maine Lifestyle & Documentary Family Photographer

Hey guyssss!

The last couple months have been pure insanity over here so naturally I've missed at least last month's "favorites" post. And honestly, I don't think I took a single picture of my own kids all month because I was so busy between school and client sessions. I want to use my favorites of the month posts to showcase my personal work so in that regard, I guess there wasn't much of a point in doing a blog post for October. I know I'm a little early this month but it's close enough. Can you believe that it's almost December?!

My busy season is officially all wrapped up and my classes are wrapping up. I have a few more exams and big papers due before the end of the semester but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm excited to be able to relax and enjoy some down time with my kids.

Oh, don't forget about my Black Friday weekend sale is still going on until Monday, November 27th at 11:59pm. Save 10% off gift certificates or $50 off an in-home session booked for the month of December or January. This can apply towards holiday tradition sessions!

Happy October!

I just love October. It's my absolute favorite month of the year and leads right into all my favorite activities of the year. Apple picking, fall baking, everything pumpkin - except pumpkin spice coffee. I tried so hard to love it but no, it's gross. Sorry not sorry y'all. Not to mention the fairs, corn maze, foliage, and then leading into Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Seriously the best time of year. I'm almost half way through the semester and I feel like I'm doing pretty ok. It's a heavy courseload but I'm totally managing.

As you may have seen if you follow me on Facebook, both mini session days are officially sold out. I'm super excited and I think they're going to be a lot of fun. I've been pretty busy this month and next month is going to be ~CRAZY~ but I'm so ready.

Last week I had the pleasure of doing miss Liv's newborn pictures. I had done Maddie's maternity pictures a few months ago and I was so excited to get the call about Liv's birth. I love newborns and I love newborn sessions. Especially now that my kids are getting bigger (kindergarten is a big step guys) I love getting to soak in all the new baby goodness. I still can't get over how much hair this child has. She has more hair at 2 weeks old than my oldest did at 2 years old. (I'm barely joking right now)

Here are some of my favorites from my morning with the Carters:

sibling adventure along the maine coast | maine family lifestyle photographer

Hey guys,

I'm super excited for my fall sessions this year and have been checking out a few new places. I love scouting with my girls; I get the opportunity to take some pictures of them but also share the joy of exploring new areas. Last week, we checked out a spot on the coast and we all had a great afternoon. It was incredibly foggy but I assured them that fog always adds a little magic to pictures. They loved climbing along the rocks and adventuring through trails. Lillian even told me it was her favorite scouting trip yet. It did start to rain a bit so we weren't able to stay as long as we'd like but I think we'll be heading back soon and I can't wait to take a few of my fall families to this hidden gem.

Also, I've actually have had a early October session spot become available for anyone who may be interested. Feel free to contact me and share this blog post with anyone who may be interested in a fall session.

And don't forget - I still have availability for the second day of mini session OCTOBER 29TH. Learn more here..: https://daniellelachancephotography.com/blog/2017/9/4/fall-mini-sessions-maine-photographer

Roberts Family Beach Session | Kennebunk Maine Lifestyle Photographer

Wow, I was just looking through my blog posts and was shocked to realize I never blogged this beautiful family's session. I am seriously shocked. I don't know how it slipped past me but HERE IT IS - BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!

Danielle won a family session during my New Years giveaway. I was so excited to do their session and we picked an early morning in June. Little Isla is just the cutest kid and so full of curiosity. The Roberts' are such a loving family, they were such a joy to work with.

It was a bright and sunny morning and the tide was low enough to provide a lot of beach space. (It's a spot where the beach almost disappears during high tide). Isla was very curious about the ocean so naturally her reaction was to make her parents go in first to see how it goes.

I love capturing her on-the-go nature and the gentle, loving vibes that they all give off. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day.

If you're interested in booking a fall session, I have 2 spaces available in September. They're going to go fast, so contact me to book your session today.

Anderson Newborn Session | Portland, Maine Lifestyle Photographer

maine in home newborn lifestyle photographer

In home sessions are quickly becoming my favorite types of sessions. It's kind of a vulnerable thing, letting a stranger into your home and into your life to capture it. But that's what makes them so amazing! Our homes are literally where our hearts are, so I find the images that I capture here are just elevated by that fact. Children are more comfortable in their own homes and I love getting to photograph them really in their element.

I am so, so excited to share some of my favorites from the Anderson's newborn session with you all today. I find that my in home & newborn sessions tend to yield a lot of images so this is a big share (you've been warned). The Anderson's welcomed their new son a week before our session and he weighed over 10lbs when he was born! My Lillian weighed in at 9lb 14oz and they were similar in their temperament as well. Calm, snuggly, sleepy. Maybe it's a big baby thing. Big sister Nora was absolutely adorable. She is such a good big sister and was so proud of "her baby". She brought her camera along too and we both took pictures of him together.

I hope you all enjoy the images as much as I do, leave some love & feel free to share.

Carter Lifestyle Maternity Session | Cape Elizabeth Photographer

maine family maternity photography

As soon as I met Maddie, I knew their maternity session was going to be awesome. The way she spoke about her family; so full of life and love, is something you don't see every day. I was literally counting down the days. The Carter's booked a maternity & newborn package and now I'm counting down the days to her due date! This family is so full of love and it just radiates from all their faces.

We decided to aim for some beautiful golden light and the beautiful location that Kettle Cove is. Cape Elizabeth is one of my favorite spots to shoot at, with it's rocky coast that just says MAINE. It's a bit of a drive for me, but it's always worth it. Kettle Cove is especially fun for kids because there is SO much to explore. I think Emilia's favorite part was the seagulls.

Remember how I said we specifically did the session at a time with gorgeous light? Yeh, about that. It ended up being incredibly cloudy and overcast that evening - AND, dare I say, a little chilly given that it's July. But you know what? We didn't even NEED the beautiful lighting. When a family is as loving and connected as the Carter's are, that's all you can see and focus on anyway.

Here are some of my favorite images from their lifestyle maternity session. Feel free to leave some love and/or share. And definitely keep your eyes out for their in-home newborn session in a few months!

Baby Emmett Sneak Peek | Maine Newborn Photographer

maine unique lifestyle photographer adventure

Hey guys!

I hope your summers are going well. Now that we're in July it feels like it's just FLYING by. I'm desparately trying to keep up with my summer bucket list. Hopefully we'll get to it all but honestly, we never do. It's been a really great summer so far though. We've had a lot of beach days, photo sessions, and we've gotten in a camping trip. It was a bit of a disaster but that's for another post, haha.

You may remember seeing Kristen's maternity session on the blog a few months ago. Didn't catch it? No worries, you can check it out here. Anyway, baby Emmett made his entrance so I went over and did some newborn pictures. He is just the sweetest baby, but then again, aren't they all? Here's a little sneak peek for you guys!

Cote Extended Family Session | Southern Maine Photographer

Hey guys,

I am so excited to share these images with you all today. Katie was a winner in my New Years giveaway and after chatting we decided to extend the family session she won to include her and her husband's families. On the days leading up to the session, the weather was bouncing back and forth between being nice and raining on us. Thankfully, we lucked out and got some nice cooler weather. (Anything but rain, amiright!?) We met at a local beach which is always fun and quickly becoming my favorite place to go in the summer. Not any specific beach, any beach will do. The kids were all so well mannered and did such a great job. I was thoroughly impressed. They explored and played and were quick to come back to do portraits with their parents, grandparents, and great grandmother. Yes, you read that right. Their great Grammy was there for the pictures as well and honestly, my heart soars even now thinking about it. This woman was so full of life, laughter, and love and let me tell you - IT SHOWS! She has such a passion for life, it's truly inspiring. I hope that I can still have this much fun when I'm 92.

Ok, ok, enough talking! Here are the images from our session. Enjoy, share, leave some love!

Beach Day with the Littles | Maine Family Lifestyle Photographer

I haven't been nearly as on top of blogging as I had hoped I'd be. But I'm doing my best so I think that's ok. It's been a hectic month over here. As the school year winds down, activities seem to increase. We've been running back and forth between softball games, school field trips and concerts, play dates, weddings, etc. We're just racing to summer vacation right now, haha.

Speaking of weddings, my sister just got married earlier this month. I had the honor of being their photographer. It was a small gathering that was full of love. I'll be sharing a sneak peek blog post in the near future so keep your eyes out. Or subscribe to the blog to get notifications when new blog posts are shared.

Coming up, I have a few family beach session and earlier this week I went scouting a location that one of my clients suggested and WOW. I was completely blown away. I don't know how I didn't know about this spot but I'm excited to bring my kids this summer as well as other clients. I just love the beach. Weird fact: When I was a kid I HATED the beach. HATED IT. But as I get older, I love the beach more and more every time I go. I just love to be near the ocean. It's funny how we change over the years.

Anyway, my sister-in-law and I made our way to the beach and had a great little visit with our littlest kids. We each have older daughters who were in school. I'm trying not to think about the fact that in the fall my youngest will be going to kindergarten. *SOBS*

Here are a couple of the pictures I took while we were there. I'd love to get even more beach sessions on the books. I don't have any space left in June but I do have some availability in July.

In Home Maternity Session | Maine Photographer

Hey guys,

How was everyone's April vacation? My family and I decided to take a last minute trip to the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. It was so nice to just get away for even a couple days. You don't always need to go far to relax. Once (if I ever) finish editing the pictures, I'll do a blog post sharing about our mini adventures.

I've had a lot of maternity sessions lately and it's amazing how different they all are. Just like with any other session, no two are alike. Recently, I did an in home maternity session with a really awesome family. They were so much fun and were totally ready to laugh, joke around, and have a fun time. I just loved it! Baby Myles is going to be a lucky little guy. Both kids are ready to be a big brother & big sister, and I'm sure they're going to teach  him all their fun games.

Oh and just a reminder that Mommy & Me mini sessions are coming up in about a week and a half. Did you see the blog post I wrote about them? If you missed it, you can see it here. There are still a couple spots available. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Maine Maternity Photographer | Wyatt's Becoming a Brother!

Hey everyone!

How about this weather we're having right now?! Last weekend I met up with Kristen, Matt, and Wyatt to do a maternity session. Wyatt is so excited to meet his little brother Emmett in just a couple short months. He's one of the most gentle and sweet little boys I've ever met, and I just know he's going to totally rock this new big brother gig.

We all went to Camp Ellis in Saco to do their session and it was much sunnier than expected. Full sun is something that pretty much all photographers complain about. It creates harsh shadows and can be difficult to work with. But there are times it's just inevitable, and when that happens you just get a little create and embrace lots of sun flare! I just got a new lens and I am loving the sun flare it produces.

I feel so lucky to call Kristen a friend. She's an amazing person and mother. As soon as you meet Wyatt, that is evident. I brought my daughter along with me to do a little video for a school project and he had her laughing through the whole session. She was such a great little helper, I may have to bring along as my assistant more often.

If you've been considering booking  a spring session, the time is now. I'm just about full for this month and do expect to book out May and June. These months are super popular because it's one of the "sweet spots" in the year. The weather is warm but not too hot and the tourists haven't moved in yet. For booking, click that button below for contact information.
